Can I open a bank account before the company is registered?

Short answer

Yes — a 29801 account, for founders to pay in charter capital before registration.

The founders apply — a 29801 «settlements with clients» account may be opened on their application, in national and/or foreign currency (Bank Accounts Instruction, Para. 14 — lex.uz ↗)
A person authorised by the founders presents the documents — an application, a signature card, and that person’s identity document or its electronic form (Bank Accounts Instruction, Para. 14 — lex.uz ↗)
The capital is paid in — this is the account the founders’ initial contributions go to before the company exists (Bank Accounts Instruction, Para. 14 — lex.uz ↗)
After registration it is emptied and closed — the company is opened a main account, the money moves there on its instruction, and the 29801 is closed (Bank Accounts Instruction, Para. 15 — lex.uz ↗)
What the law provides

This is the answer to a question that sounds impossible: how do you pay money into a company that does not yet exist. The instruction provides a holding account in the founders’ own name for exactly that, and then folds it into the company’s main account once registration comes through. (Bank Accounts Instruction, Paras. 14–15 — lex.uz ↗)

Most foreign-owned companies do not need it. Charter capital for an ordinary Uzbek LLC can be paid after registration, so the 29801 is for the cases where money genuinely has to be in before — and for founders who would rather have the capital demonstrably paid on day one.
